Genesis K9 Group at the African Canines in Conservation Conference

On 18–19 March, Genesis K9 Group attended the African Canines in Conservation Conference, where experts discussed the latest in conservation K9 work.

Day 1 focused on training, welfare, and practical applications. Topics included behavioural challenges, fitness, and using dogs for cheetah research and anti-poaching efforts. Live demos showcased vehicle search techniques.

Day 2 explored detection dogs’ role in conservation, covering biosecurity, plant poaching, and scent detection for wildlife disease. Experts also discussed village dogs for anti-poaching and ethical training considerations. Live demos included open-area searches and field medicine.

This event highlighted the growing impact of K9s in conservation and the innovation driving the field forward.
